IT Tools is a project by Scientia®, a software development consultancy based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. We bring together in one place the tools that IT professionals, developers and technical profiles use every day to convert, validate, format, analyze or generate information, free of charge and with no sign-up.

Who we are

Scientia provides IT consulting, custom software development, training and outsourcing for companies in sectors such as payments, media, healthcare, agribusiness and geospatial systems. The tools on this site address tasks that come up again and again in that work: diagnosing a network, checking a certificate, understanding a token or converting data between systems.

Built in-house

IT Tools is an original development by Scientia. The code, the design, the usage guides and the selection of tools are our own, and the site is continuously maintained and expanded. It is not a copy or an installation of the open-source it-tools project, with which it only shares a generic name. When a tool relies on a well-known open-source library, for example to format code or read images, it is to deliver reliable results; we build the rest of the experience ourselves.

How we build each tool

Each tool has a guide covering how it works, examples, use cases and frequently asked questions. Example values, such as hashes, conversions or calculation results, are generated with the tool itself or verified before publication. When a tool has limitations, such as a format it cannot open or a figure that is only an estimate, we say so on the page itself.

Privacy

Most tools run in your browser: the text, files and images you process never leave your device. Those that need to connect to the Internet, such as ping, DNS lookup or checking a domain's certificate, send the request to our server. When you share secrets, the content is encrypted in your browser before it is sent, and the server only stores the encrypted text.

Languages

The site is available in 17 languages, because a technical tool is easier to use in your own language. Content is written in Spanish, and translations are prepared with the help of automated tools and then reviewed; even so, errors may remain, as well as terms that are used differently depending on the country. If you find one, let us know and we will fix it.

How it is funded

IT Tools is free and requires no sign-up. Server and development costs are covered by advertising, which is shown in spaces separate from the tools and does not influence their results.
